How to Participate in Lottery League in the future.
We’re often asked how musicians can take part in the Lottery League, and we truly appreciate the interest.
Because the project brings together musicians who may not know each other, often meeting for the first time and collaborating in shared creative spaces, we take participation seriously. We want to ensure that everyone involved feels safe, respected, and supported throughout the process.
For that reason, we primarily rely on a referral-based approach. Most participants are recommended by members of the Lottery League community who have taken part in previous seasons. This helps us build a group of musicians who are not only talented, but also reliable, respectful, and collaborative.
We look for participants who:
- Are active musicians creating original work
- Are open to creative challenges and collaboration
- Are committed to working with others across different styles, backgrounds, and perspectives
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment
While we (Lottery League Council) are not in a position to formally vet individuals (who we do not know personally), this community-driven approach has helped us maintain a strong and supportive culture over the years.
At the same time, we do ongoing outreach to musicians we know and trust, with a continued focus on building a diverse and representative group of participants each season.
Given that more than 700 musicians have participated in Lottery League over the years, we typically reach out directly to those who were part of the most recent season, as a way to stay connected while also being respectful of everyone’s time and not over-communicating. That said, veteran participants from any year are always welcome to reach out to us if they’re interested in taking part again.
The best way to get involved is by connecting with current or past participants and becoming part of the broader community. Keep in mind that the Lottery League is every two years, with the next being in 2028.
